Certificate of completion of Italian upper secondary school or equivalent foreign qualification.
Evaluation of specific subject knowledge on entry
Verification of the knowledge required for the attendance of the course of study through a compulsory evaluation test of indicative and non-selective nature; if the test is not passed, the student will be given additional educational obligations and will be granted with: • alignment courses, • tutoring, • online alignment courses, • study of additional texts indicated by the course of study. For planned access courses, the admission test is also valid as a test of initial knowledge and additional educational obligations acquisition.
Profile of the programme
The degree programme trains a professional figure capable of working in the op!cal-optometric field. Distinctive features of this programme are: - An interdisciplinary nature, based on a solid knowledge of basic sciences, combined with a significant contribution provided by the bio-medical disciplines, which allows to deepen the causes of visual deficiencies in relation to physiological and pathological diseases of the human eye; - A practical training, with large space for laboratory activities and extra-university internships; - Two distinct curricula aimed at training optometrist technicians and technologists in the field of advanced optics for research.
Programme learning outcomes
Graduates of the Programme will be able to demonstrate: - theoretical and practical knowledge of optics and optometry that allows one to competently manage equipments for the assessment of visual function and of the eye - knowledge of the physical principles and technologies underlying the most advanced optical instrumentation. - ability to choose the most suitable vision correction solutions and devices. - skills in complex optical instruments and ability in providind specialist support in the development and testing of advanced optical instruments and methodologies.
Qualification requirements and regulations
The student is admitted to the final test after acquiring the 175 credits imposed by the study plan. The test consists in the digital presentation of a thesis work (5 CFU). The thesis is a personal in-depth study of one or more topics treated during the Degree program. The mobility windows are not temporarily rigid, although it is preferable that the students use them during the 2nd or 3rd year of the course.
Work-based learning
It is possible to carry out university internship activities abroad, at universities, institutes and laboratories, thanks to the Erasmus program, centrally supported. The mobility windows are not temporarily rigid, although it is preferable that the students use them during the 2nd or 3rd year of the course. Work-based learning National and international Internships are privileged intruments to support students in their work-based learning. For this reason, the CdS promotes direct interaction between students, companies and research structures, devoting 11 ECTS to internship activities, which will be planned trough periodic meetings between students and representatives of companies and national and international research institution interested in the professional profile of the Optic-Optometrist.
Occupational profiles of graduates
Graduates can position themselves as professionals: - in the industrial field, for the production and control of glasses and contact lenses; - in the commercial field, as an entrepreneur and freelance - in the public and private research sector as a technician / technologist
