- Evaluation of specific subject knowledge on entry
- Verification of the possession of the curricular requirements with the methods indicated in the academic regulation of the course of study. The course is entirely delivered in English and it is required a properly certified knowledge of English language corresponding to the European level B2. The lack of B2 level in English does not preclude enrollment, but can be remedied during the first year of the course.
- Profile of the programme
- The Master in Geology for Energy Resources aims to provide specialized training on topics related to Earth Sciences and their application to exploration and energy production. The course is aimed at students who intend to develop a professional position in energy, environmental and industrial geotechnical consultancy companies, government agencies, as well as advanced training for doctoral studies. The course was structured in collaboration with Eni. The main purpose is to train technically qualified and complete professionals with the potential to become leaders in oil exploration, alternative energy and other industrial companies.
- Programme learning outcomes
- Graduates will be able to: - apply the foundations and solve the relative problems of Earth Sciences - analyze and synthesize geological problems using problem-solving skills - demonstrate effective communication and management skills - engage in lifelong learning and professional development. Eni's experts will provide seminars and practical courses on topics related to the industrial applications of Geology. A part of the training is focused on field activities.
- Qualification requirements and regulations
- The student is admitted to the final test after acquiring the credits foreseen in the study plan (excluding the 27 credits of the same final test). The final exam consists in the presentation to a commission of the thesis work. The exam consists in verifying the student's ability to work independently and to discuss with the results of an original work, of an experimental or theoretical nature, on a specific theme or topic.
- Examination regulations and grading scale
- EXAMS - Evaluation: oral and/or written test - Possibility of intermediate tests - Other possible elements of evaluation: term papers, internships, participation in seminars - Voting: out of thirty (from 18/30 to 30/30, with possible honors for excellence) - Commission: at least two teachers, including the course owner (President) - Exam sessions: 8/year. FINAL TITLE. - Evaluation: thesis discussion - Evaluation elements: average of the marks of the exams, duration of the teaching path, quality of the work and of the discussion - Voting: out of one hundred and tenths (from 66/110 to 110/110, with possible honors) - Commission: 7 teachers of the Course - Sessions: 6/year
- Obligatory or optional mobility windows
- Students have the opportunity to carry out an internship during the Course, at companies, laboratories, public administrations and geological professional studies, Italian and foreign research centers, also using the Erasmus program. Students eligibility for the scholarship is discussed within the Erasmus Commission of the University. The final approval is up to the Department Council, as well as the recognition of ECTS credits.
- Work-based learning
- There are no internships for this Master of Science program. ENI provides a variable number of scholarships to carry out the degree theses in its departments.
- Occupational profiles of graduates
- Graduates will be able to work in different contexts and will be able to develop a particular attitude for geological exploration of energy sources. The main employment profiles of graduates are: - employed in companies and industries in the energy sector; - professionals in the field of applied geology. Graduates can position themselves as professionals in the field of renewable energy and in that of environmental protection.
