- Evaluation of specific subject knowledge on entry
- Verification of the knowledge required for the attendance of the course of study through a compulsory evaluation test of indicative and non-selective nature; if the test is not passed, the student will be given additional educational obligations and will be granted with: • alignment courses, • tutoring, • online alignment courses, • study of additional texts indicated by the course of study. For planned access courses, the admission test is also valid as a test of initial knowledge and additional educational obligations acquisition. Foreign students are required to take a test to verify their proficiency of the Italian language, except Erasmus Incoming students, Exchange Students and students in mobility as per the Cooperation Agreement.
- Profile of the programme
- The Obstetrics graduate must achieve the professional skills specified pursuant to Ministerial Decree no. 740 and subsequent modifications / additions as a health professional who assists and advises the woman in the period of pregnancy, childbirth, puerperium, leads and completes eutocic parts with her own responsibility and provides assistance to the newborn and in the gynecological field The obstetrician / his professional activity in public or private healthcare facilities, in an addictive or freelance regime; contributes to the training of one's profile and support staff and contributes directly to continuous training and research. According to the XXI AlmaLaurea Report, among graduates of the Nursing and Midwifery Profession class, one year after graduation: 68.9% work and are not enrolled in a second-level degree course; 2.2% work and are enrolled in a second level degree course; 7.1% do not work and are enrolled in a second level degree course.
- Programme learning outcomes
- Graduates will gain knowledge and understanding skills about: -the physiological and pathological processes related to the state of health and disease of the woman in the various stages of reproductive and sexual life; - the ethics and professional ethics of the midwife; - the research methodology for the understanding, elaboration and production of scientific works; - the basic and post-basic training paths of the midwife; - the notions necessary for assistance to provide safe, effective and scientific evidence-based treatments; - problem solving.
- Qualification requirements and regulations
- To be admitted to the final test for the achievement of the qualification to practice the midwifery health profession, the student must have acquired all the credits required by the study plan for training activities other than the final test within 12 days from the scheduled date for the achievement of the title. The final test for the achievement of the qualification is public and has the status of qualifying exam. It consists of: - Practical test during which the student must demonstrate that he has acquired the theoretical-practical and technical-operational knowledge and skills specific to the specific professional profile; - Drafting of the dissertation of a sector thesis and its dissertation under the guidance of a speaker proposing the topic and a co-supervisor of related subjects. The thesis can be compilative or experimental. The test is held before a Commission appointed by the Rector, normally composed of a number of members ranging from 7 to 11 (of which at least 2 designated by the College of Midwives).
- Examination regulations and grading scale
- The evaluation is normally carried out through an oral or written exam. The total number of exams is 20, with a mark expressed in thirtieths. The study plan also includes 6 suitability assessments. The exam sessions are 4: 2 ordinary in the months of February and June and 2 of recovery in the months of September and January. Students can take the exam again if not passed. The final Degree score is expressed in one hundred and ten plus any honors and is formed by: - The evaluation of the curriculum of studies, including the internship exam, consisting of the weighted average (out of 110) of the marks obtained in the exams taken in the three-year period, up to a maximum of 110 points. - The university career as a whole: rated from +1 to -1 points. Specifically 3-year university careers will have a score of +1; 4-year careers will be valued at 0; careers greater than 4 years will have -1. - Any honors will be assessed with a score of 0.1. - The practical test: evaluated up to a maximum of 4 points. - The content of the thesis and its discussion: assessed as follows: from 0 to 4 points per compilation thesis; from 0 to 6 points for experimental thesis. - Participation in Socrates - Erasmus and Placement projects: 1 point assessed if with the attached certificate of attendance of Professional Internship activities abroad, in locations with which there is an international agreement, and the certified passing of the relevant internship exam. - Honors can be taken into consideration by the Commission if the overall score is greater than 111.
- Obligatory or optional mobility windows
- The mobility windows for outgoing students are those provided by the relative calls.
- Work-based learning
- The professional traineeship represents the heart of the students' professional preparation, a fundamental training method for developing professional skills, diagnostic reasoning, critical thinking and developing a solid professional identity representing a pre-socialization to the world of work. It provides for the student to be accompanied by an expert professional (tutor) and in specific health contexts to achieve the training objectives set in accordance with European Directives. In the three years, the total internship hours are 60CFU equal to 1800 hours.
- Occupational profiles of graduates
- Graduates in obstetrics after enrolling in the professional register can find employment in public and private health facilities or can work in a free professional regime. In particular, for the hospital they can work, for example, in the obstetric-gynecological emergency room, obstetric and gynecological hospitalizations, the delivery room, the operating room, the prenatal diagnostic surgeries. On the territory the service will be provided at the consultancy structures and at home.
