Certificate of completion of Italian upper secondary school or equivalent foreign qualification.

Evaluation of specific subject knowledge on entry

Verification of the knowledge required for the attendance of the course of study through a compulsory evaluation test of indicative and non-selective nature; if the test is not passed, the student will be given additional educational obligations and will be granted with: • alignment courses, • tutoring, • online alignment courses, • study of additional texts indicated by the course of study. For planned access courses, the admission test is also valid as a test of initial knowledge and additional educational obligations acquisition.

Profile of the programme

The course of studies confers the title of Registered Nurse. The keys areas are: health promotion, safety and risk management, help and adaptation relationship/ mental health, clinical nursing care for patients with acute and chronic health problems (maternal / adult / elderly), application and management of diagnosis and therapy pathways, patient education and community intervention methodologies, clinical method, EBN The main learning outcomes are: knowledge and understanding, applying knowledge and understanding, making judgment, communication skills, learning skills. Learning takes place in the classroom, in the laboratory for simulations, internships and is verified through written or oral or practical tests.

Programme learning outcomes

Graduates of nursing must be able to demonstrate: - Advanced knowledge of biomedical sciences for the understanding of physiological and pathological processes connected with the state of health and illness of people in various stages of life; - Basic knowledge of psycho-social sciences and humanities for the understanding of normal and pathological relationship dynamics and reactions of defense or adaptation of people to situations of psychological distress, social and physical suffering; - Advanced knowledge of general nursing and clinical understanding of the fields of nursing intervention, the clinical method, techniques of intervention and the evidence available to guide decision-making; - Basic knowledge of science ethical, legal and sociological understanding of the organizational complexity of the healthcare system, the importance and usefulness to act in accordance with regulations and directives and respect for human values and ethical dilemmas; - Advanced knowledge of hygiene and preventive sciences for understanding the determinants of health, risk factors, prevention strategies to promote the safety of health workers and users; - knowledge of language skills with special emphasis on the English language for the understanding of the scientific literature both in print and online.

Qualification requirements and regulations

Admission to the final test for the achievement of the qualification will require that the student has acquired all the credits foreseen in the study plan for training activities other than the final test. The final test for the achievement of the qualification is public and consists of the presentation of a thesis work to a special commission. The final exam will consist in the discussion of a written text and in a practical exam aimed at demonstrating that the candidate has acquired the essential professional skills and competencies related to the professiona

Examination regulations and grading scale

Assessment is normally an oral or written exam; in some cases there are intermediate exams during the course; other evaluation elements (seminars, reports, etc.) can be foreseen in specific course units and are described in the Course Unit Profiles. The grades for subject exams are measured in thirtieths (0-30 scale), the minimum grade is 18/30 and the maximum grade is 30/30. The maximum grade can be enhanced with “cum laude” (30 cum laude), in case of excellence. Grades are given by an exam commission of at least two teachers, whose President is the chair of the subject. The main exam sessions are held in January/February, March/April, June/July, September/October. Students may retake exams, if not passed. The University provides an ECTS Grading Table, which shows the actual distribution of the examination and final grades among students for each degree programme. The final degree evaluation is expressed in one hundred and tenths (0-110 scale), the minimum grade is 66/110 and the maximum grade is 110/110. The calculation of the final grade of each candidate takes into account the average of the grades obtained in the subject exams, as well as the quality of the work performed in research or in the final thesis which is discussed in public before an exam commission. “Cum laude” (110 cum laude) may be added to the maximum grade if the exam commission decides unanimously.

Work-based learning

The internship activities aim to make the student acquire specific nursing skills. The professional internship includes tutorial sessions that prepare the student for the experience; exercises and simulations in which technical, relational and methodological skills are developed in a protected situation, before or during experimentation in real contexts; direct experiences in the field with supervision; constant tutorial and feedback sessions; didactic tasks, elaborate and specific written insights and mandates of a guided study.

Occupational profiles of graduates

Graduates deal with the identification of health needs of the person and the community, identify nursing needs, manage and evaluate nursing care intervention, ensure the correct application of diagnosis and therapy. Nursing Graduates may find employment in health care facilities and social care public or private, and as free professional employees. In particular, the employment opportunities are identified - In hospitals in all operating units of inpatient and outpatient services; - The territorial and hospital emergency services; - Structures for post-acute, long-term care, assisted nursing, rehabilitation centers, hospices; - In local health services, home care and outpatient; - In services for prevention and public health.
