- Evaluation of specific subject knowledge on entry
- Verification of the knowledge required for the attendance of the course of study through a compulsory evaluation test of indicative and non-selective nature; if the test is not passed, the student will be given additional educational obligations and will be granted with tutoring. Foreign students are required to take a test to verify their proficiency of the Italian language, except Erasmus Incoming students, Exchange Students and students in mobility as per the Cooperation Agreement.
- Profile of the programme
- The Degree Course provides for the teaching of basic scientific disciplines characterizing the various areas of Earth Sciences, referring specialist contents to the Master's Degrees. The training activities also include in-depth subjects (related and supplementary) and independently chosen by the Student, provided they are consistent with the training project. Internships are also organized (to be carried out externally), interdisciplinary excursions and orientation activities for insertion into the world of work. Training abroad is also foreseen, within the framework of Erasmus agreements. Professional skills are also provided (possibility to take the State Exam for Junior Geologist).
- Programme learning outcomes
- Graduates will mature: - a scientific culture to describe terrestrial materials and interpret geological phenomena and processes - knowledge of the applications of geological sciences - awareness of the role and responsibilities of Geologists. They will acquire the skills of: - putting knowledge into practice, operating independently and in a group - plan activities - select the data and manage it in terms of analysis, synthesis and disclosure, also through the preparation of technical reports.
- Qualification requirements and regulations
- The student is admitted to the final test after acquiring the credits imposed by the study plan (excluding the 12 CFU of the same final test). The test is public; it consists in the presentation to a commission of the thesis work. The thesis, of a compiling or experimental nature, normally engages the student for about 2 months during the 3rd year of the course. The preparation of the thesis is aimed at developing in the student the ability of synthesis and autonomous organization of their work.
- Examination regulations and grading scale
- EXAMS - Evaluation: oral and/or written test - Possibility of intermediate tests - Other possible elements of evaluation: term papers, internships, participation in seminars - Voting: out of thirty (from 18/30 to 30/30, with possible honors for excellence) - Commission: at least two teachers, including the course owner (President) - Exam sessions: 8/year. FINAL TITLE. - Evaluation: discussion of the thesis - Evaluation elements: average of the marks of the exams, duration of the teaching path, quality of the work done and of the discussion - Voting: out of one hundred and tenths (from 66/110 to 110/110, with possible honors for excellence) - Commission: 7 teachers of the degree course - Sessions: 6/year
- Obligatory or optional mobility windows
- It is possible to carry out internship activities abroad, at Research Bodies, Universities and companies in the sector, thanks to the Erasmus program, centrally supported. The mobility windows are not temporarily rigid, although it is preferable that the Students use them during the 2nd or 3rd year of the course.
- Work-based learning
- In the 3rd year, students are required to attend an internship at public or private bodies, all affiliated, with participation and related training in their activities. The aim is to put in contact the students with the world of work and is assessed 2 ECTS per week, up to a maximum of 6. At the end, the Body issues a certificate of attendance to the student who draws up a report on the activity carried out; on this basis the CCCS formulates a suitability judgment on the internship.
- Occupational profiles of graduates
- Graduates can work in various working contexts, both in public bodies and in professional offices. The degree allows, upon passing the State Exam, registration in the Professional Register of the Order of Geologists (Section B), whose competences are regulated by art. 41, paragraph 2 of Presidential Decree 5 June 2001, n. 328.
