In accordance with the 2011 Internet Site Guidelines issued by the Ministry of Public Administration and Simplification, this notice sets forth the treatment procedures for the personal information of Portal users.

This notice refers exclusively to the Portal of the University of Perugia and not to other external websites accessible by way of links to the Portal.

Types of Information

1) Navigation data

In the course of their normal operations, the information systems and software applications involved in the functioning of the Portal acquire some personal information whose transmission is implicit in the use of internet communication protocols or is used to improve the quality of the services offered.

Such information is not gathered in order to be associated with identified individuals but because of the nature of the information it could, by way of elaboration and association, by used to identify Portal users.

Belonging to this category of information are IP addresses or dominion names of computers used by Portal users, URI (Uniform Resource Identifier) addresses of the requested resources, the time of the request, the method used to communicate the request to the server, the size of the file obtained in response, the numerical code indicative of the status of the response given by the server (successful completion, error, etc.) and other parameters related to the operating system and the user’s informatics environment.

This information is used solely for the purpose of gathering anonymous statistical information on the use of the Portal or to monitor its proper functioning, and is periodically deleted. The information may be used for the ascertainment of liability in the event of possible cybercrimes causing harm to the Portal or to third parties.

2) Information Provided Voluntarily by Users

Users' personal information will be processed for the performance of university's institutional activities, within the limits established by laws and regulations, in respect of the general principles of transparency, propriety, and confidentiality.

The optional, explicit and voluntary sending of electronic mail to the addresses indicated on the Portal results in the subsequent acquisition of user requests, as well as any other personal data contained in the message. Nevertheless, the Portal assures that such processing will be performed in respect of the principles of propriety, legality and transparency and the protection of confidentiality as indicated by legislative decree 196/03.

Cookies

The Portal uses exclusively technical cookies to improve the navigation experience and to gather aggregate information on the number of users and on how they use the Portal. The gathering and processing of such cookies is regulated by relative notices:

When navigating the Portal users are provided the opportunity to decide whether to give or deny consent to the installation of cookies by way of a notice posted and highlighted at the bottom of the screen. By continuing to navigate or by deleting the notice the user accepts the use of cookies thus allowing use of all functions of the Portal.

The Portal uses two types of technical cookies: navigation cookies and monitoring cookies.

Navigation Cookies

These are cookies managed directly by the Portal and are used to improve the navigation experience on its web pages. Specifically, they are used to track the preferences in relation to the dimensions, contrast, and layout of the text and to allow participation in polls or sending of problem reports.

Monitoring Cookies

The Portal uses Web Analytics Italia (WAI), a web analysis service.

WAI uses cookies to allow Portal administrators to analyze users’ utilization of the Portal in an anonymous manner.

Users may, however, at any time refuse to use the above-mentioned cookies by selecting the appropriate setting in their browser, but this could impede them from using all of the Portal’s functions. You can refuse to use cookies by installing or selecting the appropriate setting  in your browser.

Searching the site with Google

The search box of this website (hereinafter the “search box”) utilizes technology by Google, Inc. (hereinafter “Google”). The user acknowledges and accepts that use of the search box is subject to Google’s privacy policies (available for consultation at http://www.google.it/privacy.html). Furthermore, by using the search box, the user permits Google to process his personal information in accordance with established privacy rules.

Voluntary Provision of Information

In addition to what has been specified for navigation information, the user is free to provide personal information reported in the forms present on the Portal or otherwise indicated on occasions of contact with the University to request receipt of informative material, for other communications, and to access specific services.

Failure to provide such information by result in the impossibility of compliance with the user’s request.

Processing Procedures

Personal information shall be processed exclusively for institutional purposes, with automized tools and strictly for the time necessary to fulfill the purposes for which the information has been gathered.

Special security measures are observed in order to prevent the loss and/or illicit and improper use of or unauthorized access to personal information.
